‘Bones’ exclusive: Rena Sofer makes a play for Booth!
Something tells me this is not going to sit well with B&B ’shippers.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Rena Sofer is joining the cast of Bones as a potentially recurring love interest for — don’t shoot the messenger! — Booth.
The former General Hospital Emmy winner — who’s currently recurring on NCIS as a (possibly romantic) foil for Mark Harmon’s Gibbs — will be playing Dr. Catherine Klein, a marine biologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration who has been called into the Jeffersonian after finding human remains inside a dead tiger shark. I’m not worried, and I already knew this was coming. It won’t last too long. Brennan’s season two boy-toy Sully, who seemed like he could be the real deal, was only actually in four episodes (even though it seemed like much longer!). Plus, it’s only fair that Booth get a date: he hasn’t had one since his fling with Cam in season two, and Brennan has had other men since then, including the time she was dating two men at the same time at the beginning of last season; plus, she’s been on a date with Booth’s boss. So, I think it’s time for Brennan to feel what’s it like to have the person she loves go around with someone else. Don’t get me wrong, I love Dr. Brennan – I relate to her more than I do the other characters on the show (with the exception of Sweets – I always agree with him), but in order for her to get past her emotional hangups and tear down her barriers to tell Booth she loves him (which we all know that she does), she has to face the possibility of losing him to someone else; she’s already faced losing him to death (Booth’s brain tumor in season four). Mark my words, the season finale will not disappoint, Rena Sofer (whom I think is a wonderfully talented and attractive actress who plays her roles well) will make her exit as Booth’s love interest, and Bones and Booth will finally come clean with one another about their love for each other. I believe a crew member on the show said that fans (esp. the “shippers,” of which I am one, but one who knows that for us to be really satisfied, we have to wait just a little bit longer for the payoff to be really awesome) would want to kill the writers before wanting to go dancing in the rain out of love for them. This is the “want to kill them part;” the love part, I’m reasonably sure, will come in the season finale.
Hold on, BONES fans! Hart Hanson is a talented storyteller with a pitch-perfect cast; they will not let us down. If they gave us the sweet dessert before the appetizer and main course, the meal would not be nearly as satisfying, and our appetite would be ruined before we could enjoy the whole experience.
@GRANT – i totally agree with you. Hart would have never made the show in the first place if the intention to make Booth & Brennan a couple wasn’t there. and, they’re right, the fans will want to kill them, but i have a feeling they’ll redeem themselves BIGTIME. remember how season 4 had almost 30 episodes? well, season 5 may very well have a lot of episodes, so Bones fans including myself, there will be plenty of time for B&B love. and i read somewhere that B&B were going to kiss again this season. and, let’s be honest here. season 5 is probably not going to be the final Bones season. they’re gunning for season 6. until then, we will wait (impatiently, but we will wait!!) for B&B to realize they love each other and come together.
p.s. i’m all for Angela and Hodgins getting back together, too! WOOT WOOT!!
UGH!!! i just looked at the Bones Season 5 airing schedule, and it says that the next new Bones episode (5×15) is airing APRIL 1!!!! that’s a really long wait…but we’ll hold on, i guess….
lol omg she looks so much like Brennan(which was probably the point) its kind of ridiculous! well i love Bones and Booth but can’t wait for some drama!
