Actor David Boreanaz returns to our screens this Thursday in the Sky One series Bones where he plays an FBI agent, but the actor owes his career (and presumably some bones) to his dog.
Boreanaz is best known for his role as the vampire with a soul, Angel, in the Joss Whedon TV series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and then in his own spin-off series ‘Angel’.
Boreanaz landed a minor guest spot on the comedy series ‘Married with Children’, but his acting career didn’t take off until one fateful day when he was walking his dog. Boreanaz was taking his dog for a walk in a Hollywood park when a talent scout spotted him and thought he would be perfect for the brooding vampire, Angel. Boreanaz underwent three auditions before finally being cast in the role that made his name, and earned him his own TV series.David Boreanaz himself declared that he owes his career to his dog:
Well, that helped kind of push the career along. I mean, that is a true story; I was walking my dog and a talent scout saw me on the street. Then from there, I got my manager, which led to me getting my first acting jobs.
In fact, the talent scout initially tried to ‘hit’ on David, but despite being turned down by a straight Boreanaz, it didn’t hurt David’s chances of a successful acting career.
He was trying to pick me up. It was a guy, he was homosexual. You know, he knew off the bat when he met me that I was very into females, so he knew he was going to strike out on that one. But I did some research and saw he was a reputable guy. So, yeah, walking my dog kind of led me to acting.
