Casting Scoops for “The Finder” from TV Line

Mercedes Masöhn, a onetime member of Chuck‘s deadly-sexy C.A.T. Squad, will continue to exact justice — on the Fox midseason series The Finder, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Also joining the cast of the Bones offshoot is 16-year-old newcomer Maddie Hasson.

Masöhn has landed the series regular role of Isabel Zambada, a Deputy U.S. Marshal who enjoys a “vigorous friends with benefits” relationship with “Finder” Walter Sherman (played October Road‘s George Stults). The romantic wrinkle: Forever wooed by the FBI and with her eye on one day becoming the first female Hispanic Attorney General of the United States, Isabel knows that Walter’s brazen, corner-cutting P.I. tactics could prove to be a liability to her career path.

In addition to her appearances as Chuck‘s “Zonda, the bitch,” Masöhn’s credits also include CBS’ short-lived Three Rivers.

Hasson, meanwhile, will fill the series regular role of Willa, a “manipulative, cynical and extremely bright” girl born into a family criminals, where she learned way more than a thing or two. Currently out on parole (!), the teen is committed to help out Walter and Leo (Michael Clarke Duncan) at the Ends of the Earth bar, while more often than not also lending her scrappy, con girl skills to their investigations.

The two cast additions fill the void left by Saffron Burrows (Deep Blue Sea), who appeared in this spring’s backdoor pilot episode of Bones, but is not continuing with the series.

John Francis Daley teases his myth-centric Bones episode

When John Francis Daley took on the task of co-writing his first episode of Bones with writing partner Jonathan Goldstein, he knew it’d be a challenge to please Booth and Brennan fans with a relatively Sweets-heavy episode. (That was not his choice, by the way, but it turned out to be the situation after he learned Emily Deschanel and David Boreanz would have to split their time between filming the episode and the show’s spin-off, The Locator.)

“We have enough scenes with Booth and Brennan riffing on each other and being the ones to solve the crime, for the most part. I don’t think that the fan universe is going to be too upset — at least I hope,” he jokes. “I haven’t got any death threats yet.”

In the April 14 episode (which I teased a bit to you earlier), the team takes on a case that will force them to ponder many well-known myths (i.e.: crying religious statues, yetis) and delve into the team’s individual beliefs. “We show more of Booth and Brennan connecting in the sense that one of them believes one thing and the other believes another, and yet they figure out how they can both agree upon certain things,” Daley says. “In this case, Booth feels like there is the possibility of the existence of mythological creatures like this, as he would, and Brennan, who is strictly scientific, is always going to try and disprove that. But they meet on a middle ground in this episode, because she is willing to admit that there are things out there that science still hasn’t explained yet, and is open to the possibility of there being something else out there.”

Question: Are Booth and Brennan ever going to be together on Bones? —Heather
Ausiello: Circumstance will throw them together in April when, according to series creator Hart Hanson, the two Bs are “trapped in an elevator together. It’s one of those things where they’re forced together and they have to figure some things out. It’s a pivotal moment.”

Question: Any word on when we’ll be seeing the last of Hannah on Bones? I can’t stand her.—Alex
Ausiello: Interpret this as you like, but Michaela Conlin reveals that an upcoming episode features Brennan and Angela having a heart-to-heart about — you guessed it — Hannah. “We have a big discussion about her,” Conlin reveals. “One word: juicy. It’s a very juicy conversation. Spoiler alert!”

I just read that Enrico Colantoni (love him on ‘Flashpoint’!) is going to guest star on ‘Bones,’ and that the episode will have significance to Brennan. Inquiring minds would like to know more, please. – Andrea via Facebook
I too was happy to see Enrico book this role, because it’s a great one. He’ll be playing a Jeffersonian security guard in Episode 8, titled “The Doctor In The Photo.” This is a “special” outing told almost exclusively from Brennan’s point of view, and as such it’s a very cool character study. Enrico’s character happens to listen in on each and every heady lecture given at the Jeffersonian, so he has a lot to say and share with Temp as she puts in overtime with a corpse who, rather confusingly, “talks” to her. (P.S. The guard is named Micah Leggat, which I am convinced is an anagram. Best I can come up with is “The Magic Gal,” which could be a nod to the “talking” deceased.) And hey, a second ‘Veronica Mars‘ alum is in this ep: Francis “Weevil” Capra will play Rhino, a gang member suspected of murder. [SOURCE]

Ausiello: An upcoming episode will be told entirely from Brennan’s point of view. “It’s a very stylized episode where Brennan is investigating a murder of someone who appears to be her,” explains exec producer Stephen Nathan. “It’s sort of Brennan examining her own life while examining the victim. We’ve never done anything this internal. It’s probably the most psychologically oriented episode we’ve ever done.”

Question: Which episode of Bones is Emily Deschanel directing this season? —Frankie

Don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled!!

When Angela (Michaela Conlin) and Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) return to D.C. from Paris in Bones’ September 23 season premiere, they’ll be bringing back a much better souvenir than a plastic Eiffel Tower trinket. “Angela’s pregnant!” says Michaela, who planned to keep the exciting news secret until Fox’s promo department included the spoiler in a preview clip. “I was bummed they decided to do that.”

Well, at least now the actress is free to discuss the happy news. “I have to be honest, at first I was a little hesitant,” she says. “To marry this wild child off and get her pregnant had me worried that this would limit her, story-wise. But I now feel, getting in to the sixth season, it’s going to be interesting to see her try to fit her wild life into this maternal situation.”

Since, as Michaela noted, Angela is such a wild child, who’s to say that a handsome Frenchman isn’t the baby daddy? “I am pretty convinced Hodgins is the dad,” insists Michaela. “Only because we were just married. That would be very slutty of her. This time, I think she played it right.”

The drama, she says, will come in other ways. “We’re going to see them pursue very unconventional doctors,” Michaela teases.

Bones creator Hart Hanson says we should also expect Angela’s pregnancy to have an impact on Brennan (Emily Deschanel), who has seemingly abandoned her plans to have Booth (David Boreanaz) donate his sperm to her. “Everything that happens will force Brennan to reevaluate all of her decisions from last year,” Hanson says. “We leave nothing hanging.” [Source]

Ausiello: That new girl has a name—Hannah. Show some respect. And to quote Booth in the Sept. 23 premiere, their relationship is “as serious as a heart attack.”

Question: So these new Bones promos have me super-excited for the new season (and more than a little bit heartbroken for Brennan), but I’m confused: Is Hannah going to show up in the premiere, or in episode 2? —Amy
Ausiello: You mean that new girl? She shows up in episode 2.

Question: Will we see more of Parker on Bones this season? —Brianna
Ausiello: Mini Booth actually plays a pivotal role in the opener, as he’s essentially the reason Big Booth returns home from Afghanistan. (And yes, you will actually see him.)
