Boreanaz plays a hockey fan on TV, too

Q:On the show Bones,” I noticed two hockey pictures behind the desk of Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz). One is a black-and-white of the Philadelphia Flyers, and the other is a nice color photo of Bobby Orr. What is the significance of these pictures? — Brian Cross, Burlington, Ont.

A:Boreanaz is a huge hockey fan. He played on a charity team at the 2008 Sundance festival, has blogged about the NHL and even did voice-overs for Stanley Cup playoff promotional spots. Though he was born in Buffalo, he grew up in Philadelphia and is an ardent Flyers fan. Hence, the poster — from their 1970s Broad Street Bullies” days — and the picture of the great Orr. [SOURCE]

David Boreanaz Talks Bones

David Boreanaz is back with the fourth series of hit show Bones, which sees him return to the character of Seeley Joseph Booth alongside Emily Deschanel.

- So you’re directing?

Yes, so I heard.(Laughter.)

- We’ve heard about it. The strip club, the lap dance.

Oh, Emily told you what a better way for — Boreanaz must have sat down and gave Hart a list
of things that he wants in his episode. Did she say that to you?

- Yes, she did.

I guarantee you she said it because she’s going to give me a hard time until the damn thing
is wrapped. And she’ll continue to. No. Yeah, that’s what’s great about her. She continues to make me smile. (Laughter.)

- So you didn’t have any input in the…

I had no input whatsoever.

- Just a coincidence?

I ended up reading the script and, you know, I get the bungee jumping opening with a really a
cool stunt that led to a car dealership to a fast car to a monkey to a strip club to her driving a car.

- All you want in a TV show.

All in one TV show, man. It’s all wrapped in a capsule and everybody would be happy.

- You didn’t see the script beforehand before you were directing it then?

Well, I’m prepping now so I’m just — I’m on my third day of prepping, so I just gotta land down two more locations and I’m ready to roll. Read full article.

David Boreanaz owes Bones to his dog

Actor David Boreanaz returns to our screens this Thursday in the Sky One series Bones where he plays an FBI agent, but the actor owes his career (and presumably some bones) to his dog.

Boreanaz is best known for his role as the vampire with a soul, Angel, in the Joss Whedon TV series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and then in his own spin-off series ‘Angel’.

Boreanaz landed a minor guest spot on the comedy series ‘Married with Children’, but his acting career didn’t take off until one fateful day when he was walking his dog. Boreanaz was taking his dog for a walk in a Hollywood park when a talent scout spotted him and thought he would be perfect for the brooding vampire, Angel. Boreanaz underwent three auditions before finally being cast in the role that made his name, and earned him his own TV series.David Boreanaz himself declared that he owes his career to his dog:

Well, that helped kind of push the career along. I mean, that is a true story; I was walking my dog and a talent scout saw me on the street. Then from there, I got my manager, which led to me getting my first acting jobs.

In fact, the talent scout initially tried to ‘hit’ on David, but despite being turned down by a straight Boreanaz, it didn’t hurt David’s chances of a successful acting career.

He was trying to pick me up. It was a guy, he was homosexual. You know, he knew off the bat when he met me that I was very into females, so he knew he was going to strike out on that one. But I did some research and saw he was a reputable guy. So, yeah, walking my dog kind of led me to acting.

A quick chat with Bones star David Boreanaz

David Boreanaz reveals that Seeley Booth is seriously smitten in the new series of Bones, which screens on Sky1 each Thursday.

After four series of flirting, FBI special agent Seeley Booth and forensics expert Dr Temperance Brennan finally gave Bones fans what they wanted when they got together in the finale to the last series.

Well, sort of. The couple’s new-found romance turned out to be a fantasy sequence, as a comatose Booth hallucinated that he and Brennan were married.

This week, as the doors at Washington DC’s Jeffersonian Institute reopen for a new series (Sky1, Thursday, 9pm), the crimefighters, played by David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel, are struggling with their feelings for each other while continuing to solve grisly crimes.

We caught up with David Boreanaz to find out what’s in store…

Where does the new series pick up?

“It starts six weeks after Booth woke up from his brain surgery, and he’s really confused. Because he fantasised a love affair with Brennan during his coma, he realises his feelings are strong for her and he’s convinced that they are made for each other.”

Can he convince her they should be together?

“He works hard to win her heart, but it’s hard for him because his brain’s a bit messed up.”

Does he find it easy getting back to work?

“He’s been declared mentally fit to return to duty, though he’s still experiencing some side-effects from the coma.”

What else happens to Booth in this series?

“We see more of his vulnerability. Viewers will find out about his background and his relationship with his father.”

We hear you’ll be directing the show’s 100th episode

“I’ll direct a couple of episodes in the new series and that’s one of them. It’s a flashback to Booth and Brennan’s first assignment together when they didn’t like each other at all.”

Are you more interested in their relationship than the crimes they solve?

“I don’t really care about the crime-solving. I just care about Booth’s relationship with Brennan. I don’t care about the bones and the crime.”

Are you and Emily Deschanel good friends off-set?

“I’m sure there are TV shows in the past where actors had great chemistry on screen, but didn’t get on outside work. We’re not like that. Emily has become part of my family. We’re always there for each other.”

Stephen Fry is back in the new series as Booth’s therapist, Dr Gordon Wyatt. Do you follow him on Twitter?

“I’ve never looked at anyone’s Twitter feed. I don’t like Tweeting. I don’t like to tell people exactly what I am doing at every minute of the day.”

You shot some scenes for the last series in London. Will you be coming back?

“There has been some talk about filming the season finale in the UK, which I would love, especially as it means I could get to watch Arsenal again.”

Mötley Crüe guested in the fourth series finale. Which other bands would you like on the show?

“I love Led Zeppelin, so it would have to be Jimmy Page, who’s a real hero of mine. I saw Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood at the Hollywood Bowl recently. A live gig and a bottle of wine is my idea of the perfect night out.”

Which other TV show would you like to appear on?

“I’ve told my agent that I’d like a guest spot on Damages, which is a really smart show. I love watching Breaking Bad, too.”

What is your TV guilty pleasure?

“I admit to watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey. I was born nearby, in Buffalo, so I know a lot of women like that.”

Your wife, Jaime, has just given birth to a daughter, Bardot. How will she affect your life?

“Well, my wife and I like to stay in most of the time and cook, so that won’t change. It’s not as if I spend every night hanging out with other actors. I never get Johnny Depp on the phone asking me to come out and party.” [Source]

BOREANAZ WAS DANSON’S DOPPELGANGER

DAVID BOREANAZ looks so much like TED DANSON he gained access to nightclubs by pretending to be the star.
The 40-year-old Bones actor is 21 years younger than Danson – but he still managed to be taken seriously when he told bar bosses he was the Cheers star.
And Boreanaz became so fixated on VIP treatment he refused to give up the act when ageing Danson’s hair turned grey – instead, he pretended to be the Hollywood star’s son.
He says, “In college I would pretend I was a celebrity to get into bars. (I pretended to be) Ted Danson (or) Ted Danson’s son. I greased my hair back… when I went to Los Angeles it was amazing how it worked… They would whisk us in and we’d be wined and dined.” [Source]
